replacing my old google nest learning with new nest learning thermostat

my current google nest learning thermostat is bad and want to replace it with a new one of the same type. What steps do i need to take to remove and replace. Also don't want to lose my nest protect settings.

Thank you Mark. Do I need to remove the old nest thermostat device from my Home Screen and then add new thermostat?
