I finally got it to connect. The trick is putting the point not too far not too close to main router. Between 4 ft and 12 ft. No need to hardwire the point using cable.

I'm in the same situation trying to add Google wifi devices as nodes to Nest Wifi network. Let me know if you have found the solution.
