This can often happen when a Spiderweb gets into the smoke sensor. I
recommend you clean the detectors exterior and interior with compressed
air. Clean any dusk near the mounting point as well; if the issue
persists, contact Nest support about defect...
To me this sounds very much like a sensor failure. Otherwise a
Spiderweb, if you haven't already, use compressed air on the smoke
sensor. If the issue keeps occurring, contact Nest support and attempt a
warranty claim.
There are two possibilities I see here.1: Defective sensor and the unit
failing to notice defect.2: Dust and/or Spiderweb. If you have done all
cleaning tips, including using compressed air, you have possibility #1.
