If you have a mesh set up at home, next time you're having issues try
unplugging all but the main access point and see if the speakers start
behaving shortly after. Assuming that they are all in range, that is. It
works for us every time.

I actually have the same issue. 6 Google speakers and two Nest Pro
points. When both points are plugged in I cannot place music across all
of my speakers reliably. As soon as I unplug the second point my group
works as expected again.
