One thing you haven’t mentioned is a full factory reset of the Protect.
To do this, hold down the centre button until it starts to read out the
firmware version, then release. It will delete all config and settings

Open the Nest app, and click on the Protect you want to change the
setting for. At the top right there is a ”gear” icon for settings. Click
that and then you have the option to turn Pathlight on or off.
