It worked for me, I had to be very close to the router. It's now set up but the original problem remains

You can undo the reset. Manually set your phone date to March 6th. Then you can setup chromecast again

This doesn't fix the original issue with actually casting but at least it undoes the factory reset while Google fixes the main issue

Stage 1 fix if you have factory reset. Set your date manually to March 6th. This enables you to set up your chromecast onto your home WiFi.

The trouble shooter literally told me to factory reset! Am I now stuck?
