Add the original Google Home device to Google Nest Mesh- WiFi works but nothing else

I have an original Google Home device. I installed a Google nest Mesh system. The device connects to the WiFi, but doesn't "broadcast", recognize the same music or news as the pods. I did a hard reset before attaching it to thr WiFi network.
