Completely agree. As typical, Google seems to have abandoned developing
new features for this project...really not a whole lot is "smart" about
it these days compared to the myriad of other thermostats that have
since come out.
FWIW - I was able to login to home.nest.com and there is an additional
option under Heat Pump Balance there that I don't see on the iOS app.
It's called "Choose Max Duration" and it was set to 5 hours. I set it to

Having the same issue, and it will kick on during my peak energy times
which costs me 2.5x in energy even though my schedule is set to not come
on until 8pm. REALLY frustrating.
