I changed the date on my phone to march 1st and then my chrome cast connected and updated. Then I changed it back after the update and it continued to work. Try this if you factory resetted as originally advised.

Could not communicate with yourChromecast. Is the message i am receiving still.

Mine still says ",Could not communicate with yourChromecast."
