Rh wire issue

I’m installing a Gen 4 thermostat, replacing a Gen 1. When I just “ touch” the Rh wire to the Rh terminal, the level light comes on. But when I fully insert the and lock it in place, the light goes out. Can anyone explain this? See video at https://y...
