I agree, forced obsolescence is not a good pathway to customer
retention. I will not buy another Google Nest product in my lifetime
because of this, Google is too big to care about the little guy. Next
thermostat I buy, it’s an Ecobee for me!
Is it a GEN 1 thermostat? One of mine is. Google has discontinued
support for them so they will appear off-line forever. I will never buy
another Google nest product as I think forced obsolescence is a really
bad look for customers.
