The recent Google Home app update (4.9.51) appears to have removed the bug. Now all seven Points are showing as "online" in the app with a "good connection", which now matches the status lights on the individual devices.

The Points are online - the lights are white - but 2 to 4 of them show as offline in the app, which also says the mesh is not working. I have seven Points - one in each room - positioned to maximize the mesh.
