After years of everything being fine (well, there are regular issues, but nothing like now...) I am now having major problems which seems to revolve around account linking.
Firstly I tried to unlink from Smartthings and that repeatedly errors "Could not reach Smartthings. Please try again".
I removed my wife from being an admin of the home in case that was fouling it up. No.
I tried making a new home and that was still linked (the link is with me, not the home I suppose) and the 204 devices that Smartthings provides were still there and could not even be moved to a room/home.
I went to the Google Account Management site and removed access there (also from a couple of other things that didn't need it) but that error remained the same.
I tried forcing the stop of the Google Home app, removing cache and data and reinstalling and trying again. No.
I noticed at this point that Google devices such as my Lenovo Smart Clock and my Nest Hub Max were showing a screen saying they needed to be linked to my account and I found that even after factory reset they would reconnect to the wifi, but not link to my account (error message: "There was an error linking your account").
I get the same error message if I even try and move a 'local' device into a room/home.
So currently none of my Google devices work and I can't link or unlink services or devices!
I've just tried setting up the Nest Hub Max using a second Google account I have in case my account was fouled and it said the device was already set up under another (presumably my first/main) account, but it is no longer listed in the devices!
Now when I go back and try again on the original account it STILL says it's set up under ANOTHER account?! Has it now gotten hold of the second account even though that setup failed?!
This system is HORRENDOUS and I am going BANANAS wasting hours trying to get something working that was working ok for years before this all began.
I used the Google Nest support online chat feature and was advised to leave feedback on the phone, but that feature is horrible and after failing a couple of times and losing the text painstakingly entered I've come here hoping for help...
