Can't add Nest to Home app

I just got a nest device but I've been using Google home for years. Nest wanted me to login with a Google account so that's what I did. I set up my device within nest and it is working. When adding compatible device to home and selecting nest it of course prompts me to login. I enter the same Google account I used to login to nest with but it says there is an error with username/password. I'm assuming it wants one of those nest accounts pre merge which one cannot make anymore. Is there a fix to this because I cannot share the device on nest to my wife as the app says it needs to be done through home....which I can't do because I can't link them....

You don't need to link them in the way you described if you sign in with a Google account.

Most products you setup in the Nest app, should automatically appear in the Home app. There are some exceptions, which currently only show in the Nest app, but most will appear in both.

I have signed into both platforms with the same Google account but I do not see the nest protect in Google home. So I'm not sure if this is correct.

Nest Protect is one of the products that currently only shows in the Nest app. That said, Google has committed to bringing more of the products and features from the Nest app into the Home app.

Are you serious? I did the research into the product but not the platform. Nest protect is held in high regards it would seem but Google honestly hasn't correctly integrated the nest app into home even after 7 years of ownership? I don't think they've committed much. Thank you for the info though. I guess I'll stay away from Nest products. I see they're sunlighting some gadgets so maybe I made a mistake with protect. Man that's frustrating as I kinda liked the device and was gonna get more.

There is nothing else for me to do if the information provided was correct. The only other useful thing for me would be a roadmap for the full implementation of Nest into Home. Otherwise it can be closed. Thank you.
