Can't login and can't reset password

Claws

Can't login to Nest all of a sudden and I never get an email to reset password. I've done everything ad nauseam including trying to sign in with my google account. It was fine until recently. This is crazy! I see that HUNDREDS of people have had this same problem with no resolve. W###!? I'm using Windows with a Chrome browser. Windows is NOT a platform choice in the dropdown menu above. What the #@$! is up with that?!

OMG I am having this EXACT problem and have become frustrated to no end that I cannot get chat/phone/email support from Google Nest to troubleshoot/fix the issue! Every time I navigate to the Contact Us link I get a 503 error - irrespective of the device, browser, etc. For nearly 48 hours now I have not had the ability to access my Nest app from my phone.

iOS 17.6.1

Nest 5.78.0

I got auto logged out of my Nest account two days ago. Tried to log back in and it errored out. Decided to go down the "reset my password" route and have not received ANY emails with the reset link.

This is a Nest account I've had for going on 13 years now...it's not a "you put the wrong email address in" situation.

We need an answer STAT on how to advance this issue. I can't use ANY online resources because 503 errors eliminate that route. I can't call any care centers because every number that I've found is either NOT for Nest issues (basically hangs up on me) or is no longer in service.

What are we supposed to do?

so i checked back with support.google.com and found that I was able to start a chat (without a 503 error - yay!) and after more than 45 mins the fix for me involved migrating my Nest account to Google. Unfortunately the Tier 1 rep did not EXPLAIN that this is what I was doing...just gave the step by step instructions and then BAM my Nest account was linked to Google and everything that comes with that. good luck getting yourself squared away. definitely a "grin and bear it" type solution for me.

I tried to migrate to Google and couldn't. IDK. I'm done with this. After Google acquired Nest people started having all kinds of issues and I suspect they simply took the loss and moved on which I suppose I will as well. Thank you for your replies and good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear the Nest web is not allowing you to log in. Don't worry; I'm here to help. Just to get started, I'd like to confirm some details with you. Can you please help me answer the next questions?

  • Can you log in to the Nest app on your cellphone?
  • When attempting to sign in with Google, do you receive any error messages on the screen?
  • Are you encountering any error messages during the migration from Nest to Google?

In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

What if a user doesn’t want to migrate to Google???  Isn’t there a way to login via Nest without allowing Google to access all of your usage information???

Hi NotWoke,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I understand you have questions about migrating a Nest account to a Google Home account.

  1. Migration is optional. In many cases, we can resolve login difficulties with your Nest account without needing to migrate.
  2. You can still use your Nest account to log in on your Nest app or website.

Are you currently experiencing any difficulties logging into your Nest account? Please let me know so I can help you troubleshoot. I'll be here if you have more questions for me. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.

I am having the same issue and not finding support very useful.  What is the best way to resolve this issue. I haven't migrated my Nest account with Google account.

I am able to log into the Nest app on my cellphone and not receiving an email during reset password.

Hi @Mmviz!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you are having when trying to log in using your Nest account. I understand that you were randomly logged out and cannot log in again or even change the password because you are not receiving the reset password emails. Let’s work together.

Here are a few steps for you to follow:

  1. If you are not receiving the password reset email, please check the following:
    • Spam folder
    • Promotions folder
    • Junk or trash if your email filters junk mail directly to the trash
  2. Have you recently deleted your Nest account or have received an email from Nest that asks to confirm your account deletion?
  3. Try the following:
    • If your mail service uses one, add @Nest.com to their allowlist. The steps on how to do this step vary based on your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you can't find the steps on how to do this with a simple Google search, then refer to your ISP for help with the process.
      • Some email domains may have an anti-spam feature that could block legitimate emails from Nest inadvertently. If you add account@nest.com to their allowlist, you should receive the verification email.
      • Known domains that block Nest emails at the server level are @btinternet.com and @comcast.com.
    • If you still can't receive emails after you add account@nest.com to your allowlist, I advise you to directly contact their ISP or email provider.

Please check the following articles: Change or reset your Nest account password

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
