Cannot create new room in existing Home 2022

Where is the option to simply create a new room within an already established Home in the app?

The issue of moving a device APPEARS to be solvable IF we could add another room without completely blowing up out existing home and starting all over.

Deleting a device seems extreme here, but also does NOT fix that the new room you need is NOT in your existing home once you have re-registered it, so that is no answer to this problem.

Older tutorials NEVER cover doing this, only the initial setup within a new home. Is this buried somewhere in the settings? If so why? Secondly can this be simply labeled? Thirdly can Google just admit it, if they cannot or for some reason DO NOT want this behavior? At the very least come clean about it?

Thank you for the reply, however it still does not address my current issue. When following the instructions in that answer the option of "rooms" simply is not available.

My exact issue is that I have a new model Nest home speaker in my master bedroom to replace the old Google home unit that is now in the guest bedroom. Within the app I would like to have them in thier correct rooms.

I didn't create a "guest bedroom" room in my home when setting it up. So now I am unable to move the old speaker to that room OR simply remove it from my master bedroom group. Despite its physical location in the new room.

The process you linked SEEMS like it would work, except it doesn't, selecting that device's tile and then options has no such entry as rooms on it. I've even DISABLED my range extender to make sure the devices are on the same network, yet the options as that tutorial lists them never show up, so it's a dead end.

Other options to remove the speaker in the home app present themselves, but literally change nothing. I cannot deselect the old device in the room group either, if that's ALL I do then no changes are registered.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. But I reiterate, this is such a simple function that it should not be THIS difficult to simply do.

@lnealjr

If I go into the Google Home app (iOS version) and select the tile for a device, and then select "Device information", I can then select "Room" and get a "Choose room" screen that lists "My rooms" (those currently in use) and "Other rooms"; at the bottom of "Other rooms" is an "Add custom room" option.

Are you saying you can't make any changes here? (I don't want to move any of our devices, so I didn't try to make any changes.)

Thank you for that description, it IS different in the android app!

My route:
Device Tile / Touch "Device Information" / Touch "Placement" / THEN the rest of what you have previously stated works.

I have no idea why THAT is not documented, I'm on a Pixel 4a5G up to date on Android 13, at any rate THANK YOU so much that worked.

It is still so very convoluted, but at least now that room's speaker will only be used when needed, and can be utilized independently as a group speaker this coming holiday season, since it will be occupied quite a bit.

I know that this was not a life or death situation, but thank you so much for your help in clearing this up, it was highly frustrating nonetheless.
