I just purchased and set up some Nest Protects to add alongside my Nest Thermostat, and since the Nest iOS app has been bugging me to migrate to a Google Account, I thought now might be a good time to perform that migration. I did so successfully, and am now using my Google account with the Nest iOS app and everything works there as expected. So far so good.
Unfortunately, when I try to log in to https://home.nest.com to view my devices (to, say, set the Nest Thermostat target temperature via the web), I see a Sign in with Google button. Great, I'll use that Google account that I just migrated, so I click the button. I'm taken to the Google account chooser, I pick the account that I just migrated, it animates for a moment while it works and then instead of taking me to the authenticated Nest web UI, I'm dumped back at https://home.nest.com, un-logged in, with the Sign in with Google button front and center again. I try again, same loop. I clear Chrome's browser's cookies and try again, same loop. I try in Safari, same loop. I try in Firefox, same loop. I try on an entirely different computer, same loop. So, it seems like my freshly-migrated Nest/Google account is stuck in purgatory, at least for the Nest web interface. I have no recourse, and no way to sign into the Nest web interface like I used to. Help!
(I chose the Nest App for iOS from the label picker because there's no options for the web interface.)

It's not that I can't sign into my Google account at all -- If I visit https://myaccount.google.com separate from the Nest login flow, I can sign in to my Google account just fine and access all my personal Google data. It's only when trying to use the Nest web UI that I'm sent in a loop regardless of browser or machine. I'm using an Apple M2 Pro MacBook Pro running macOS Sequoia 15.0. I've tried using Chrome 129.0.6668.59 (current), Safari 18.0 (current), Firefox 130.0.1 (current), as well as Safari on iOS 18.0 (current), and the login flow is always a loop. So, it does not appear to be an issue limited to a particular device or browser. These are all personal devices with no third party AV software running. The Nest iOS app logs in with Google and works fine, it's just when I visit https://home.nest.com in a browser that I get sent in a login loop.

Hi command_tab,
I appreciate you providing this valuable information. It will be very helpful in following up on your case and helping you resolve the login issue you're experiencing with https://goo.gle/2WSvFX3 to view your devices.
Now, with this information in hand, I can recommend the following steps:
2. Make sure the web browser is on the latest version.
3. Download any available system updates from Apple. Here's how:
Please let me know if these steps help. If not, we can explore other options.

This is all accurate; My system clocks are all set to use Apple's time servers and not manually inputted time, my web browsers and OSes are all up to date, and there are no updates available.
This sure feels like either an incomplete Nest-to-Google account migration or a Nest web UI bug. Given that nobody else is reporting issues with the Nest web UI, I suspect the former.

Here's a video of the process I'm stuck in ...
Note that logging out of all Google Accounts first, clearing all browser cookies, or even using an Incognito window all results in effectively the same loop.

Hello @command_tab,
Thanks for your reply and the additional information.
It seems you might be using the wrong account. During the migration process, you were likely asked to create or use a new Google account (under the Gmail domain).
So, you may try to sign in with Google using the new account that was requested to you before starting the migration.
Let me know how this goes, and we can gather more information about it and resolve this together.
Thanks,
Catheryn.

No, this is the correct Google Account, and the one I'm choosing here is the same account I chose during the Nest-to-Google account migration. I double-checked, too, and the "You’ve successfully migrated to a Google Account" confirmation email I received after the migration went to this same email address I'm choosing in the video. As well, this is the only Google account I have.
Also, when I open the Nest iOS app and go to Settings, I see this same email address in the Account area. When I tap on it, I get the Google Account settings as expected. So, clearly I'm signed into the Nest iOS app with a migrated Google Account, but when accessing Nest web UI with that account, I get that login loop.

Sign in with Nest did not allow me to use my old account credentials, which indicates to me that the migration was indeed successful, as the process claimed.
But — success! Allowing third party cookies for `home.nest.com` and `accounts.google.com` did the trick! They were completely disabled in my Chrome settings, but I'm not sure if that's Chrome's default or not. Third party cookies are off by default in Safari as a factory setting.
I can now sign in, out, and back into the Nest web UI with those allow-list hostnames in place. Thank you!

I'm all set! Enabling third party cookies for the aforementioned Nest and Google hostnames did the trick. My issue is resolved 🙂
