I see so many other people are having this same issue so starting a new thread since I haven't seen any response or fix. Please reply if you have been able to add family members to Google Home with how you did it because I have read through everything and still can't find a solution nor any response from Google. This has to be a huge issue and a major deterrent for people to steer clear of Google and go to Amazon. Not sure why this isn't being handled. Anyone make any progress or hear of a fix?

If your account is a Google Workspace account, you won't be able to add others to your home. Like wise you cannot add workspace accounts to your home. I used the procedure below to add my family members.

No, I was using an icloud account actually, but yes, as soon as I switched it to their Gmail account it worked.

That fixed it. I think that needs to be made more clear. I saw it say that you could not invite someone using their GSuite/Workspace account but I did not see anywhere where it says you cannot invite anyone if YOU have a GSuite/Workspace account. Maybe I missed it.

I've been experiencing the same issue, I am trying to invite a family member, get to the second screen of the invite and click next, but nothing happens from that point onward, so I can't send the invitation. I will say that I have already sent this particular family member an invitation, but it was about a year ago and they don't recall receiving the invite and definitely never joined the home.

Erin are you using an email that is @Gmail.com ? My issue was using a workspace account. I had to change everything over to a standard gmail account.

I am having the same issue. I am able to add my spouse to the Google Home App. They show up as a "Manager" in the account . When they log into Nest or Google Home they can't see the cameras or thermostats

Same issue here. My husband can use the home app but not Nest which is the most useful for cameras and thermostat
