Hi Mann1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: what is the make of the light that you are trying to link? Is this the first time that you are trying to link it or it was linked before? Are you able to control the lights using it’s native app? What is the exact message that you are getting from the Google Home app when you attempt to link it? Could you check the steps below if this is how you are linking your lights?

  1. Follow the bulb maker’s instructions to set up your bulb. You may need to set up a bridge or hub, if you haven’t already done so.
  2. Plug in and turn on your bulb in the same room as your speaker or display.
  3. Set up your speaker or display.
  4. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  5. At the top left, tap Add Set up device plus Works with Google.
  6. Tap your bulb maker’s logo and then follow the steps to complete setup. You may need to sign in to your bulb maker’s app. The app will guide you through the rest of the steps.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni
