Chilren's voice profile setup to use Google Assistant on my devices

I am trying to set up a voice profile for my children so that they can use google assistant around the house. Currently (despite me having set up my own voice profile) all their searches show up in my search history. The Google Assistant Help page lists the following steps.

  1. Connect your phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network as your speaker, Smart Display, or Smart Clock.
  2. On your phone or tablet, open the Family Link app D33n_0-1673141956888.png

    .
  3. Select your child.
  4. Tap Controls D33n_1-1673141956882.png Content restrictions D33n_2-1673141956885.png

Add your child to new devices.
  5. If you have multiple devices, tap the box next to each shared device you want to add your child's voice to. If not, skip to step 6.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign your child in.
  7. Hand the phone or tablet to your child.
  8. Help them teach Google Assistant to recognize their voice.

I can compete step 4, however, when I tap "Add ..... to new devices" the link quickly highlights grey and but then nothing happens after this. Any suggestions as why this may be so?

This is the only way I want to add them, they do not have their own devices and I do not intend on giving them one for a number of years.

Hi D33n,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

To effectively add your child they need to have their own android phone or tablet. In your scenario you can try to add your child’s account to your phone but this may or may not work.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni
