Connecting Mi Home

Hi there,

Looking to buy Nest hub and cameras, and curious how will it work with 3rd party devices. Right now testing Google Home with my Mi Vacuum cleaner and the app says it's offline, while Mi Home works correctly. Any advise? Thank you

Hi Tomo25,

I use the Chinese mainland region within the settings of my Mi Home app.

Tried just now. After setting China region the app restored to the default. Then, I tried to add the device, but it turned an error that the region is not supported (I have an international version of the cleaner) and suggested changing my region to Singapore. Tried with Singapore, and the device was installed, but Google Home still says it is offline.

Hi again,

After the installation within the Mi Home app did you tell the Google Assistant to "Sync Devices"?

After the installation of Mi Home, I can't add the devices, so there's nothing to sync))

Hello everyone,

@Cathal_S, your help here is greatly appreciated.

@Tomo25, please try renaming your Mi Vacuum Cleaner in the Google Home app. Here's how: open app > Tap the vacuum icon > Choose Settings > Select Name to edit > Save. Once done, sync your device and let me know how it goes.

Best,
Lovely

Hey Tomo,

Thanks for coming back to us. May I know the specific model of your vacuum? Also, have you tried calling Mi Home support to check if the vacuum supports voice command using a third-party device?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello. It's Mi Vaccum-Mop Essential. No, I haven't. For now i'm just trying to see how Google Home will be working with 3rd party devices (see them online at least), and if I will need an additional app for my smart home configuration (Looking at Nest cameras + doorlock to use with 2 vacuums, 4-6 smart LED outdoor and up to 10 sensors)

Hi there,

Got it! Most of the third-party smart devices will require you to set up the device first on the manufacturer's app before linking them to the Google Home app. For Nest devices, you can seamlessly link it directly to the Google Home app and control them via voice commands using the Google Home/Nest devices. Visit this link to learn more.

If for some reasons you're vacuum still appears offline on the Google Home app, I suggest that you contact the manufacturer first to verify if your vacuum is supporting voice command.

Cheers,

Muddi
