Deleted Nest Account, Google Account still linked with Nest Account.

I was having difficulties merging my old Nest account into my google account. Every time I tried I was getting error messages in the app.  So I deleted my entire Nest account, hoping to just log in with my Google Account.  Now when I try to login with my Google Account, I get an error message that my email is still tied to my old Nest account.  When I then try to login to my Nest account, it says that the password is incorrect and submitting the password reset requests don't work.

Ultimately I'm stuck in this limbo of not having an account but still being linked to a deleted account.  Any suggestions?

Contacting Support may be your better option. I don't know what prevented you from migrating your Nest Account to Google, or what your options are after deleting your Nest Account. I migrated over 2 years ago, and so didn't realize you could even delete your Nest Account.

When you say you "deleted my entire Nest account", what exactly did you do? Did you delete the email account you were using to log into the Google Nest app?  Or something else?  And when you say "Now when I try to login with my Google Account" are you trying to log into the Google Nest app or the Google Home app with your Google (gmail) Account? And when you say "When I then try to login to my Nest account" are you trying to log into the Google Nest app or the Google Home app?   With what credentials?

You might want to try contacting Support, where you can more readily exchange information back and forth:

I deleted my Nest account via the Nest app.  That account used my email to login instead of my google credentials which is what it previously kept trying to merge unsuccessfully.  I've tried logging into Nest now with just my Google account but it says that account is already linked to a Nest account, even though I've deleted that account.  It's quite a mess and I'll likely need to go through support to get someone that can look into what's actually happening.

I contacted support and they recommended waiting 24 hours after deleting my Nest account to see if I could then recreate the account as a Google account. That worked, so I'm assuming some script was run overnight that cleared the association of my Gmail account to my old Nest account, so I was able to create a new account.
