GHome now slow and lagging compared with Nest

Forced to transition to Google home from reliable NEST System. Now getting frustrated by a system who seems to be slow and less intuitive than Nest.
- slow at connecting to system

- slow locating cameras

- slow updating current status

- lagging when showing recorded footage

I had / have the same systems, cameras, iPhones, routers etc.

I even tried to reinstall everything- but still the same slow system.

I do have a PREMIUM Sub.

What’s wrong?
Any good ideas?
All is welcome thanks

Hi @MKlaaby,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear about the performance issues you're experiencing with your Nest Cameras after transitioning to the Google Home app. I understand how frustrating it is to deal with slow connection times and lagging footage, especially when your previous Nest setup was so reliable.

I appreciate you sharing that you've already tried reinstalling the system and that you're using a premium subscription. I’m happy to assist you. To help me narrow this down, could you provide a few more details?

  • What type of Nest Cameras do you have?
  • What is the make and model of your router or modem?
  • How is your internet connection in general?
  • Are you able to see all the video history from the last 30 days?
  • What is the current status light on the cameras?
  • Are you getting any error messages in the Google Home app?
  • How far are the cameras from the router?
  • What Wi-Fi frequency band are you using (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

Keep me posted; I’ll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Ashley

I too experienced degradation after migrating from Nest to Google Home.

Unfortunately, I too have received no end of suggestions and/or questions regarding both intranet & internet architecture -- which have remained unchanged since the migration and services a complex array of IOT devices.
The Nest cams are the only place where performance issues exist.

This feels like a server-side issue at Google.    I wish you luck in getting meaningful feedback from them.  I haven't been successful with that.

Many thanks Marko for your kind and supporting note. I have now called a professional to take a deeper look at my system. In case I learn something new I’ll let your know.
Many thx

Mick

Ditto to the above.  It's frustratingly slower... I wish I could go back to Nest.
