Geeni Account will not connect to Google Home

A few month ago, my google home startet having problems controling my geeni smart lights. When I told my Goggle Home to shut off all lights, it often shut off half of the lights, and replied that there was a problem. The problem became larger and lager, and last week it didn’t work any more.
I just completely reset everything - the google home device, the geeni account, all the geeni lamps.
the Geeni app works fine and all lights are sync’d to the App - but every time I try to connect the Geeni account in Google Home app, it says “Geeni connected” then 3 sec. later “Something went wrong - try again later”

Hi Everyone,

That sounds incredibly frustrating! Having your Google Home only control half the lights, then completely stop working with them must be a real hassle. I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot by resetting everything – your Google Home device, the Geeni account, and even the Geeni lamps themselves. It's great that the Geeni app works fine on its own.

The "Something went wrong" error when trying to connect the Geeni account in the Google Home app is definitely the key here. Let's see if we can figure out what's preventing a smooth connection.

A couple of things to consider:

  • Account Linking: Did you follow the exact steps for linking your Geeni account within the Google Home app? Sometimes, there might be specific instructions or account information you need to enter. You can usually find these steps within the Google Home app settings or on the Google Nest Help Center.
  • App Permissions: Make sure the Google Home app has the necessary permissions on your phone, especially microphone access for voice commands and potentially location access for device discovery. You can check these permissions in your phone's settings.
  • App and Device Updates: Ensure both the Google Home app and your Google Home device are up to date with the latest software. Updates often contain bug fixes and performance improvements that might resolve compatibility issues.

Here are some resources that might be helpful:

If none of these solutions work:

  • Geeni Support: While you mentioned the Geeni app works fine, you could also reach out to Geeni support to see if they have any insights or updates that might be affecting the connection with Google Home.

Hopefully, by working through these steps and exploring the resources provided, we can get your Google Home controlling all your Geeni lights again!

Regards,

Mario.
