I'm not sure if this is the right place to leave this but for what it's worth...
After a conversation with Gemini on the subject, I'm told that when Gemini comes to Home devices, there will like be a paid tier for "Advanced AI features" such as Gemini Live for free-flowing, back-and-forth conversations and that the extra charge would apply even for existing Gemini Pro subscribers. I don't know how well informed Gemini really is on this subject but If true, that seems more that a little short sighted on Google's part. I can see the extra charge for non Gemini Pro users or for advanced device specific functions but essentially making me pay twice for Gemini Live functionally on another device would likely be a deal breaker for me as I think it would be for many.
I can have that free flowing conversational experience with ChatGPT on my mobile devices. At this stage of adoption, many people are trying various LLMs at various subscription levels and that will inevitable shake out. If you're looking to give those users a reason to go ahead and drop Google Pro, signaling that Google plans to double charge them where possible, this seems like a pretty good one.
For anyone at Google reading this... Just keep Gemini device agnostic. Like many, probably everyone in this forum, I've long been a Google user/customer and advocate but, for God's sake, behave like one customer focused company for a change instead of a collection of brilliant developers linked by a marketing apparatus tasked to capitalize on their ideas. I know you're trying but there's still just something fundamentally disconnected in the culture. Google is usually- often - sporadically brilliant - at thinking like a user but still has trouble thinking like a customer. This is an example.
