Google Assistant not recognising devices set up in Google Home app

I have a fee Philips Hue bulbs set up with a bridge and configured with the Google Home app. They work perfectly with my Google smart speakers but every time I give a command to my speakers, the Google Assistant on my phone also activates and says the following: "To control lights using Google Assistant, you'll need to have them set up in Google Assistant settings"

What is the point in setting up the same set of lights in Google Home AND Google Assistant settings? Should the two not talk to eachother? Am I missing something here?

Hi schpadeesh,

Thanks for reaching out. Let’s see what's going on. A few questions: when did it start happening? What email address are you using in the Google Assistant app? Also, what phone are you using (Android,iOS)?

Make sure you are using the same account on your Google Assistant app and Google Home. Also, updating the Google app might help. See the steps below on how to update:

  1. On your phone, open the Google app Search Icon.
  2. At the bottom right of the Home screen, tap More More and then Settings and then About.
  3. Look for the version number at the top.
  4. If your version is below 6.5, go to the Google app page, then tap Update.

Juni
