Google Home App Devices Not staying connected

I've had the Google home app for a long time and for the most part I love the ecosystem of Google products. I use several other products to connect with my Google home app. I have a pixel 9 Pro XL. This issue has happened on all my devices. Every time I go to open the app I get the devices show disconnected, grayed out and then within seconds they all reconnected are live. It's like the app is killing itself in the background. I have done these steps below.

1. Allow location to run precisely.

2. Allow the Google home app to always retrieve location continuously in the background background battery disabled optimization.

3. I've cleared the cache of the app. I've done it with all Google Play services and store

4. The app is updated. I have installed older versions of the Google home app and still the same issue persist.

I know a lot about technology in general so this has been very irritating to me. I have backed out of the beta program. And I still get the same disconnection issue. Now once I have the app open for about 3 to 4 seconds, all devices highlight up and become live like the app should work. It's almost like the app is being killed in the background. I'm convinced there's something to do with digital well-being Maybe. And I also thought it could have been battery optimization. So that's why I allowed it to run unrestricted in the background and the problem still persist. I have issues with automations too like when I arrive home it won't activate automation. This has happened on my previous phone pixel devices. It almost feels like the Google home app has a really bad issue. Is anybody else having these same issues? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

My setup is functioning very similar to yours. I have a Samsung phone and my wife has a Samsung phone. All the lights connected will work for a few hours then stop working. They'll come back on line with no action from me. I've tried to put Gemini to sleep or disable it to no avail. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. Very frustrating. I'm very disappointed with the state of the release of Gemini. Too frustrated to continue.

I used to have the exact same issue having when it come to my GE bulbs. I switched over to Phillips Hue and have had yet to have any issues. Very expensive but worth. I've also noticed my old nest assistance and Google home assistants becoming super stupid. I'm assuming it was the rollout of Gemini. Just because it's a server-side issue because the device is worked fine at one point. So either a corrupted update or they're slowly integrating it within the system and just said to hell with the current assistance. It's gotten better though. I can now play a song 😆 devices work fine now when it comes to commands. Once the Google home app finally shows the devices online after 5-10 seconds, I can use them and work with them like normal. It just seems like the Google home app is killing itself in the background or is losing connectivity when the phone is off.  My issues more on the Google home app itself.

Here are some Google photos of what I'm talking about.

Let me know if you're still having issues or what did you do to fix? Thank you for the response by the way!

New discovery: seems that the Cync app still controls the lights but continues to disconnect/reconnect to Google Assistant/Google Home. NOT A HAPPY USER!

Hi folks,

Thank you for posting in the community. I see that you’re having issues with your smart home devices in the Google Home app. I understand they are constantly showing as offline and only come back online when you open the app or at random intervals, even after the troubleshooting steps you’ve followed. I also see that because of this, your "Arriving Home" automation is not running as expected until the app is opened and the smart home devices reconnect. I appreciated your troubleshooting efforts and I also understand how frustrating this can be, but no worries, I’ll be happy to assist you. To get started, please answer the following questions:

  • What is the exact model of your smart home devices?
  • Are the smart home devices connected to a third-party developer app or directly to the Google Home app?
  • What is your mobile device’s operating system and version?
  • Which version of the Google Home app is currently installed?
  • Are all the affected devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network?

I’ll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel
