Google home app UI was updated automatically even though I have auto-update disabled in play store.
Play store does not show that google home app was updated and I am still on version 2.62.1.15.
How can I revert back to the previous UI and prevent this from re-occurring in the future ?
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Google Home version: 2.62.1.15
Play Store version: 36.3.12-29 (no beta or public review)
Android version 10
One UI 2.5
Android security patch level: June 1, 2022

If you were recently updated to the new version of the Google Home app (which has a whole new look and requires you to set up "Favorites" that display on your initial screen), that update is controlled entirely on Google Nest's servers, and is NOT dependent on the version installed on your phone. Google Nest has been gradually switching all of us to the new version by flipping some sort of "switch" on their servers. I don't think there's any way to switch back once Google Nest updates you. On our three devices, we were switched over one at a time over about 10 days, with no update performed on our part on the Google Home app.

I see, so they removed more control from the users and we no longer have the ability to avoid buggy updates. Especially the ones that break functionality on certain phones and never get fixed since Google's focus will be to make the same functionality work on the newest phones. This should be illegal.

Hey Googlbreakgoogl,
Thanks for bringing this up. I appreciate MplsCustomer for helping here. To confirm, have you signed up on a preview program lately? What is the Google Home app version on your phone now?
Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hi. No, I have not signed up for preview program and don't want any more issues by signing up either. Current version of Google Home I have installed is 2.62.1.15

Hi there,
Interesting! Could you share a screenshot of the Google Home app interface installed on your phone? By the way, I agree with MplsCustomer that there's no option to revert back to the old interface.
Cheers,
Muddi
