Google Home App login issue iOS 16.3

SusanB26

I'm stuck in an endless loop on my iphone of trying to login to Google Home only on my iPhone.  Google tells me there was "suspicious activity" then it asks for two factor authentication from the recovery email, prompts me to change my password, then when I do I try to login it says the same thing and I’m back at the beginning. I've rebooted, reinstalled, and removed permissions from every app on my phone with access to Google. I haven’t installed any new apps and have been using Google Home just fine in this device until the upgrade. It's only happening on my iPhone after the iOS 16.3 update. I can get into Google  and my gmail no issue. Now I can't use Google home on my phone which is an actual problem as far as household functioning.

@SusanB26

If it's happening only on your phone, have you tried deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app on your phone?

Yes. That is too easy of a fix. Lol I’ve deleted and reinstalled. Rebooted the phone. Did this numerous times in different order.

Apparently this is known problem based on Apple forums. There is no resolution since Ape blames Google and  Google blames Apple. But as of now I don’t have home automation on my phone so this Home setup with Nest thermostats and lightbulbs is a frustrating waste of  money.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for bringing this up.

@MplsCustomer, thanks for chiming in to this.

@SusanB26, sprry to hear about this. Have you already checked other phone or other iOS version so we can isolate this further? We just want to make sure that this issue is specific to iOS 16.3 only. Let us know if there's any way for you to try other phones while I check this with the team.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess

I was able to login to my husband's Android, Samsung Galaxy, without issue. So this is isolated to my iPhone. It still continually prompts me to change my password on my iPhone. There is a new ios update to 16.3.1 which I will try.

Updated to iOS 16.3.1. It did not fix the problem.  I am still stuck in an endless loop to reset my password on my phone. Home automation aside, I really need to use Google sheets for work now and can’t get into that either. This is a problem.

Hey SusanB26,

Since you're able to sign in your account to another phone and it's not isolated to your Google Home app, we suggest contacting Apple support for additional information.

Let us know if you have other questions or concerns with your Google Home app or Google Nest devices otherwise, we'll lock this thread after 24 hours.

Kind regards,
Alex

This issue is happening to many other users on another thread and quite frankly, I don't appreciate any of this. This is on my iPad and my phone and only happened when I updated to 16.3. It's not my phone. But go ahead and lock it since it's not isolated to Google Home now.
