Hi,
I started noticing really slow performance and app crashing after recent update of the Google home app. No matter what I do (reboot phone, uninstall app and reinstall
Examples are, slow scrolling, slow tap, window switch, can’t access smoothly the camera section, things like that.
This is happening for both my iPhone 12 Pro and iPad 6gen
Does anyone is facing similar issues?

I have running into the same issue. I reported it through the feedback option in the app as well. With how poorly the app has worked historically with iOS, I am guessing its not going to get fixed.

The app is not perfect but it was functional prior to the latest update. Now is unusable

Hi @GeremiG
i already spoke with support about this and they are investigating. They told me they started receiving complaints so they are investigating
My case is 3-8591000037707
iOS version: 18.3.1
Home app version: latest 3.29.103
issue started after latest Home app update
and this is no a device problem, is the app itself that cannot be used because the performance completely degraded. I can’t control anything because sometimes doesn’t even open correctly the app or hangs or crash

Any luck with support or are they just telling you to reset your phone?

They are investigating as it keeps spreading out and getting worse.
Please reach out to the so more people, more pressure to solve as I can confirm it is this new version as I loaded a older version of Google Home (3.21.105) on my old iPhone 6s running iOS 15.8.3 and it’s working perfectly (no delays, no crashes, no slow performance)

Hey I’m having several issues as well. When i open the Google home app my cameras will sometimes open but most of the time they do not. It just keeps saying camera unavailable. Is this part of the complaint?
i restated my network, my phone, disconnected my router and reconnected, cleared my cache. I did everything I could think of and it does not work. What’s the is the issue?
i also updated Google home app today and that did not correct the issue either.

I think is part of the problem becuase the commonality is the poor performance when opening the app and doing task like open settings, open devices config and things like that

Yeah, it’s not you. It’s the app. It’s completely useless. All the money that I spent on all of these devices, do not work like they were promised because of the app is broken and has been broken. I don’t see them communicating this or fixing this problem anytime soon. It was fine before so why can’t they just reverse the update if that’s the issue? I I wish I could transfer all my devices back to the Nest app, but this is ridiculous.

The app is unusable. I have multiple phones and even android phones. And on all my iPhones, it completely freezes and crashes. I can’t do anything. The thousands of dollars that I have dumped into these devices are now useless. And on my android phone, it’s still an issue but not as painful as on iOS, but it still does not work. I’m ready to throw all my Google devices away and then never look back. I have had such a good experience with my eufy cameras. I think I might just switch completely over. This is unacceptable.

Same issue running Android. App opens and takes forever to show any devices or cameras. This is a major bug in latest release it seems

Open a case with them please. More people reporting via cases will be more pressure for them to understand this is not a simple issue, it's getting worse and affecting

Hey! Thanks for the suggestions, seems like that helped to fix the slowness on the app. Thank you so much. Hope they can fix the issue permanently and we can keep using the Public Preview features

Beside note, Google Home app running on iPad 6th gen with iOS 17.7.5 is not even allowing to enter into settings to disable the public preview, it keeps circling around "thinking". Everywhere I go/click shows "loading". Can't do anything.
Reinstalling the app does not help.
Any workaround for this one?

Leaving public preview seemed to work for me for now.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and have been experiencing the same lagging and crashing of the Google Home app especially when trying to view my camera feeds it’s been weeks with this issue and nothing has been done

Please note that I am having the same issue.
I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS version 18.3.1. The Google Home App is entirely unusable and displays the recurring error message: "Resource has been exhausted (e.g., check quota)."
Please advise if Google will have a remedy soon.

I am having the same issue. Google Home App version 3.29.103 on iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 18.3.1
Scrolling through anything in the app is slow, lagging and freezes occasionally. Versions of the app before were fine without any issues.

Can someone at Google please give an update on when this will be fixed? Or some kind of rough estimate? I rely on these cameras daily and it’s been days that they have not been working. If this isn’t going to be fixed soon, you are going to lose a very loyal customer to eufy-no issues ever so far. It’s frustrating that I’ve spent thousands of dollars on your products and believed in your brand.

Same issue for me, app and sometimes routines completely unusable, app hangs up and needs to be force quit, or app crashes on its own after a few seconds.

Same issue here - just awful and has been a problem for over a week now. Really incredible how little Google cares to fix this major bug.

I’m having the same issues as everyone has reported here. It appears to be worse on my iPad than my iPhone. iPad Pro 10.5” and iPhone 15 Pro, both running the latest software.
The web interface seems to be fine. In fact, I’ve added a link on my iPad Home Screen so that I can at least get it. My wife and I use it to keep an eye on her 99 year old mother, with 10 Nest cameras, who still lives in her home (with some help). Very important for us to have this fixed.

Current version of the Home app is unusable. It is extremely slow and crashes completely frequently. As I switched modems, and therefore started a new network in my house, I had to factory reboot my google camera's. Unfortunately reconnecting the camera's to the Google home app proves to be impossible as the performance of the app is so poor. I have managed to install one camera after 5 tries and have given up on the other ones. I do hope there will be a fix soon!

We need a really quick fix, is horrible using the App like that.

I just updated--on my iPhone 16--to the latest version of the Google Home app (from 4 hours ago). I am not impressed. As I scroll up and down between our cameras, the video feeds just displayed go black, and then sometimes reappear or falsely report the camera is offline. The same cameras on home.nest.com are all there and live.
On our iPad (6th gen Pro), in the updated Google Home app, two of our 1st gen outdoor cameras show as offline or off or showing a spinning circle (flipping between these). In the Google Nest app, they are all live and online.
This is on iOS 18.3.1.

There is a new bug for me:
If I open the app after it has been put to the background for some minutes, it is again locked up completely.
the only fix being to force kill and restart the app, like before.
I will gladly take this new behavior over the previous though…

The app still locks up even after the new update. When I did get the app to load, I couldn't view any recordings for my cameras. Rolling back from the preview got everything working again.
