Google Home Presence Sensing is not showing in settings

ErikDB

A few days ago, I was able to make a routine which is triggered by me leaving the house. That worked for a few days. But I noticed after a few days, nothing happened anymore.

I am now UNABLE to select location based routines (screenshot: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1rin2quCQbHNkfVn7), and "Presence Sensing" is not available in the options (screenshot: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jgebmGUnEcNMhVFN8)... I've restarted the app, the phone, cleared the cache, removed and re-installed the app.

Alas, still no solution...

Hi ErikDB,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that a routine you created based on your location stopped working after a few days. Now, the Presence Sensing option is missing from your app's settings, and you're unable to create new location-based routines. I appreciate all the steps you've already taken. No worries, I'm here to help!

To isolate the root cause of this issue, I have some questions for you:

  • Have you set up Home and Away Routines in the Google Home app? Please check out the following link for your reference: Learn about Home & Away Routines
  • Have you set location permissions for the Google Home app on your phone to "Always on"?
  • Is your Google Home app updated? Please visit our helpful article to learn how to check it: Update the Google Home app

Please keep me posted.

Regards,
Juan

Hi ErikDB,

Thanks for getting back to me! Let's continue to address this situation. I recommend you try the following steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites.
  3. Tap your home's name in the top-left corner.
  4. See if you have the "Set up" option.

If you don't, what do you see? A screenshot would be a huge help.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Juan

It's awful Juan and you are not very nice asking people basic questions over and over that are obvious. Frankly I find it insulting that whenever I look through responses from the community there is this kind of remedial dumbing down of issues that we report. It makes me feel like I'm not respected as a customer.

Hi s0m3f00l,

Thank you for your continued responses. I understand this might be frustrating, but we're working to isolate the main issue.

To find the best solution, let's begin with the basics to gradually isolate the issue. If you could share a screenshot of what you got from the previous steps, it would be really helpful.

Keep me posted.

Sincerely,
Juan
