Hi, since the last update my Google home app has been continuously crashing after 5-10 seconds whenever I log in. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling it but no change. I can’t find anywhere in the App Store to report the issue that doesn’t send me around in circles. Super frustrating! Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA

That’s really frustrating, especially if reinstalling didn’t help. A couple things worth trying:
Clear the app’s cache/data (on Android) or offload it from Settings (on iOS) before reinstalling—sometimes leftovers from the old version cause repeated crashes.
Check for pending OS updates on your phone; app crashes often get worse if the app updated but the system is behind.
If you’re on iOS, try toggling Background App Refresh off for Home—it’s helped some people with similar issues.
If none of that works, the quickest way to flag it to Google is through the Home app itself → Profile icon → Help & Feedback → Send Feedback (even if it crashes, submit right after opening).
Since this started right after the update, it’s likely a bug on their end, so hopefully a patch will roll out soon.

Hello @Kaykay77,
Thanks for the steps provided @PeterP1,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this continuous crashing issue with your Google Home app. I can understand how frustrating it is when a key app stops working. Thanks for trying the steps of removing and reinstalling the app. Let me help you with this.
To help us get a better idea of what might be causing the Google Home app to crash, could you please answer a few questions?
The answers to these questions will help us determine if the issue is with your phone, your network, or a specific part of your Google Home account.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
After following the suggestions of @PeterP1 the app seems to be crashing less however I still cannot use the widget at all. It keeps telling me I need to connect to a Home but when I click the link my Home is already connected.
I am using an iphone17 air and running iOS26. Other than the new phone there have been no additions changes to our Google home setup. I’m beginning to think it might be an IOS26 issue.
It seems to happen equally on wifi and cellular.
We only have one Home set up on our network but we do have quite a few devices in that home. We haven’t had any problems running them previously though.
please let me know if you need any further details.
cheers, Kate

Hello @Kaykay77,
Thank you for your response and for providing all of these details.
Based on the information you've provided, that the issue started with a new phone running a new operating system, and the crashes have lessened but the widget is now non-functional, it seems like this could be an issue with device-specific compatibility.
To help us narrow this down, if you have access to another phone, could you please try installing the Google Home app on it and see if the crashing issue persists?
This will help us confirm whether the problem is specifically with your new iPhone 17 Air and iOS 26 or if it might be related to a setting or data on your Google Account.
Please let me know what you find. I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Kevin
