Google home app won't let me connect devices at all

My Google home app won't let me connect any devices at all, if I click the plus sign to add anything it will let me select what I want to add but after I click the item and hit next at the part where it says to make sure it's plugged in it just goes back to the home screen. Won't let me get past that step on any device, I've tried it on my tablet and phone and both do the same thing. I have a Google tv, Google wifi, and a Google home mini that I would like to connect. The mini is useless at this point and I can't do anything with it

• Are you logged into the correct account associated with your devices?
• Are you connected to the same wifi network as your devices?
• Did you get a new phone, internet router, or new ISP?
• Where are you seeing this message?
