Google home on iPad (iOS 15.3.1) does not detect my Chromecast.

My iPad does not detect Chromecast on my network and this issue started only recently. I have completed all the basic troubleshooting steps like disconnecting power, factory reset etc. but with no luck. I even uninstalled the home app and reinstalled it and set up my Chromecast from scratch using the same iPad (it detects my Chromecast during set up which is strange) but once it is set up it does not detect my Chromecast anymore. I have no trouble detecting my Chromecast from other devices (android phone and my iPhone) except from my iPad. Any suggestions/help to fix this will be much appreciated.

Hi Czany,

Sorry for the delayed response. If this is only happening on your iPad and your device is running on iOS 15, please make sure the Bluetooth is turned on and you must enable the Local Network Access for the Google Home app on your phone.

To turn on the Local Network Access, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the phone's Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy > Local Network.
  3. You will find a list of apps. You must turn on the Local Network Access for the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi, Bluetooth is on and local network access is already turned on for the google home app. It has always been on. Still it doesn’t detect my chrome cast.

Hi Czany,

Thanks, we appreciate you checking that for us. I'd love to dig deeper into this.

A few questions — was the setup completed using the iPad? If it was successfully set up, is your Chromecast not showing as available casting devices when casting from a Chromecast-enabled app? Could you please try to check if the WiFi assist on your iPad is turned on? If it's on, please turn it off and try again. Also, make sure your iPad is connected to the same network as your Chromecast. Rebooting your iPad might also help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I almost gave up and never looked into it and today after seeing your response I just tried to connect without making any further changes one last time and voila its now detecting my Chromecast. Really strange. Thanks for all the support and advice  though.
