Google home routines don't run when home/away updated by presence sensing (e.g. turn camera on/off)

Many others have reported this but all the discussions were closed without resolution.  I have a routine to turn on/off an indoor camera when I am away/home respectively.  It seems to run fairly reliably when I updated home/away manually but often fails to run when home/away is updated by presence sensing.  Quite annoying.  Would be great if someone from Google could actually pay attention to all the major bugs being reported here.  Thanks!

Hello ZSCH,

Thanks for posting here in the Community.

Please answer the following: what's your Google Home app version? What model of phone are you using? What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Ensure that your phone and Google Home app are up-to-date. Check your Location settings and make sure it's always enabled when using Presence sensing. Visit this link for more information.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,
Lovely

Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy S22. Phone and app are up to date. I tried removing and resetting the routine to turn on/off camera. Other people seem to have this issue.  Thanks Lovely. By the way do you work for Google?

Hey ZSCH,

Sorry for the late response. There has been an update to the Google Home app, so I want to check with you if the issue that you are having with the Home/Away routines still persists.

Cheers,
Lovely

I don't think so but I'm away for a few days we'll check carefully when I get back

Thanks @LovelyM . It actually does seem to be working better with the new app (!) but I want to monitor it for a few more days before confirming all is good.

By the way since you are a community specialist, I wonder if you can check why this other thread is getting no attention from google - clearly many many users are stuck with the issue.
