After conversion to Google Home Nest camera no longer connects via cellular

Our Nest camera works perfect on wifi but will not connect via cellular (iphone XR ios 16.3.1), it is unable to load the Nest camera, which is the only device connected via Google Home. Once back on wifi it works great. Cellular data is enabled for the app. I removed both the Nest and Google Home apps and reinstalled. Prior to converting to Google Home very recently the Nest camera worked great over wifi and cellular. Not once did we encounter any connection or access issues. If this issue cannot be resolved, is it possible to convert backwards to using the Nest only app?

By cellular, I assume you mean connecting your Nest Cam to a Wi-Fi hotspot or a MiFi type device, rather than a traditional "fixed Wi-Fi network?

Hi everyone,

@jsswansonjr, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Once you migrate your account with Google it can't be undone. New version of Nest Camera can only be controlled and set up with Google Home app. Try using a different mobile device or go to the https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU and sign in your same email address. Let us know your update here.

I appreciate your response, davidking.

Hey jsswansonjr,

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest Camera? Were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Regards,
Emerson

The Nest camera was purchased several years ago so I assume it's a first generation. Since its purchase and until I merged the Nest to google home, it connected quickly every time to our wifi. But it will no longer do so, which I attempted to do this morning for 15 minutes. Now for my question, do you connect the camera via the google home app or the Nest app? I tried both and neither one would connect this morning. I have been successful in getting it connected several days ago, but even then it required almost 2 minutes for it to finally do so. I recently purchased 2 Wyze cameras and they connect quickly every time without issues. Converting to google home has caused nothing but problems. The camera will either not connect or it takes several minutes for it to do so. So unless you can resolve the issue, I'm throwing the Nest camera in the trash since it's totally worthless to me now.
Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

Juni,

Thanks for touching base. Prior to merging my Nest Account with Google, the camera worked flawlessly, never had a single issue with it and the speed of it was excellent. But since the merger it doesn't always work and lags badly. So I gave up and the camera is sitting in a drawer. Its just not useable anymore. It would be great if you could send very detailed instructions of how to go about setting it from the beginning. I'm willing to try it one more time.

Thanks

Hi jsswansonjr,

Got it. Check out the steps below:

  1. Open the Nest app Nest app.
    • Note: If you have more than one home in your account, make sure that you first selected the Nest home where you want to install your camera. Tap Menu in the top left of the home screen to change homes.
  2. In the top right corner of the app home screen, tap Settings Nest settings icon.
  3. Select Add product plus.
  4. Scan the QR code on the back of your camera. You can also tap Continue without scanning and type the numbers at the top of the QR code.
  5. The app walks you through setup and installation.
