Home app says I do not have admin rights to change setup?

My Home app (android) complains that I am not allowed to change a group in the app. I do not have the right 'rights', I have no administrator provilileges. I did make all the existing groups myself, I'm the only one using the app or accessing the groups. I have had al ong chat with several Google One support people but they do not succeed in finding the right  person for this.

When I try to make a new 'home' it does not find any divices. When I go back to the 'old' home, it finds the groups and most of the devices. When I try to access the home with another google account, it finds the same groups and the same problems occur. I deleted and re-installed the app. I rebooted eveerything, all to no avail.

It is really annoying. Anyone had this? What can I do?

Hi there hdela,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with the Home app and the rights issues you're having, I'm sure it's frustrating but I'm happy to look into this.

Since your devices are connected to another household, the best way to unlink them or to free them from that household is to do a factory reset on the devices. This will remove them from the Google account so that you can add them to another household of your choosing.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

Dear Garret,

I tried a factory reset on one but to no avail. The only thing that helped was to change the address (by adding a 001 to the house number). That way I created a new environment in which I could manage the devices and groups.

No matter what I tried, there seems to be an issue that does not accept me, the only one that actually accessed that configuration, to manage the 'house". Even though I'm listef as the only administrator. Really weird.

By opening a house on a "new" address I can start from scratch, although all the groups that were made before re-appeared on that "new" address - I guess they are linked some way to the wifi network, I don't know. There is clearly a bug here and the Google support people didn't reach the point at which they could figure out which team had to solve this (Google Play? The Home app people? Or the Google Home product people? The chromecast people?).

I hope this workaround might help someone someday with the same issue.
