How can I recap my status, subscriptions, migration from Nest to Google

Stefanogenoa

Hi everyone,

I would love to dissipate the heavy fog of confusion & ignorance that surrounds my "Nest/Google" things. Talking about 4 indoor webcams, one in New York NY and the other three scattered in Italy. They used to work fine, live broadcast, history, recording, alerts and notifications.

Then one day I probably migrated all of them to the upcoming Google takeover. Or did I ?

Is there any way to find my status as far as subscriptions, expiring, migration and so forth ?

Is there a way I can supervise my webcams from a laptop as I used to do with Nest ?

How can I adjust settings only from my phone and allow other members of the family just watch the webcams without being able to switch on/off the cameras by mistake ?

Thank you for all your help you can give.

Stefano

If you have migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account, then you would now be signing onto the Google Nest app using the "Sign in with Google" option instead of the "Sign in with Nest" option. See this Help topic:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9297676

If you have a 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, I think you should be able to manage your subscription here:

https://store.nest.com/account/subscriptions

We have a 2nd gen Nest Aware Plus subscription, and manage our subscription here:

https://store.google.com/subscriptions

Even if you have migrated from your Nest Account to a Google Account (we migrated in 2020), you can still use the Google Nest app and the home.nest.com website for 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells. And because you can still use the Google Nest app for 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, you can also share access to specific cameras with family members without sharing complete access by using public or private links to those cameras; see this Help topic: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9227530.

If you are using the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, then you also have the OPTION to "transfer" certain 1st gen Google Nest cameras from the Google Nest app to the Google Home app; see this blog post: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/New-updates-to-Google-Home-for-camera-users-new-AI-image...

Thank you for your answer. Trying to make sense of where I am, I am listing the "status" of my subscription for each indoor camera, info obtained by consulting the Google Home app on my android cellphone.

"Basa" (Italy) I have just subscribed a nest aware basic plan. I have a brand new camera 2nd generation I believe. My next payment being April 19, 2024. This should be all OK.

"Genoa" Italy. I have a subscription expiring in 28 days. But nest aware is not available because no compatible device. Have to buy a second generation camera.

"Grange" Italy, I have a subscription expiring in 30 days. But nest aware is not available because no compatible device. Have to buy a second generation camera.

New York NY,  I have just subscribed a nest aware basic plan and now it tells me that No Compatible device. Have to buy a second generation camera.

---------------------------

My understanding is that when it says No Compatible Device I have to get a new second generation camera. At that point I should have all systems up and running with the updated cameras and a subscribed plan working.

By the way, I know some features available in the US are not working in Italy, it's OK.

I hope all this makes sense to you. Because if it does, it means I am on the right track.

Thank you,

Stefano

The "No compatible device" message means that Google Nest cannot find any Google Nest cameras or doorbells that are in the same Google Nest "home/structure" as your Nest Aware subscription. It certainly does NOT mean you have to buy a 2nd gen Google Nest camera.

Maybe you've purchased Nest Aware subscriptions for the wrong Google Nest "homes/structures".

Perhaps you should try the "Contact us" option under "Nest Aware Premier Care" on the page below to "Get 24/7 access to Nest Aware Experts on the Nest Customer Care team. They’re available to answer questions, help you access features, and manage your subscription."
