You can change the names of the devices connected to your Wi-Fi network. Some devices might have hard to identify names (for example, a printer might be displayed as “a738b00002”) or 2 similar devices might repeat the same name. The Google Home app lets you edit device names to something simple and recognizable like “Amy’s laptop.” The new edited name will be visible to all owners and managers of your Wi-Fi network.
Note: This will only change how the device’s name appears in the app. It will not affect the device hostname.
Open the Google Home app .
Tap Wi-Fi Devices.
Tap the device that you want to change.
Rename your device then tap Save.
Note: To remove a device name that you've created previously, just delete the text. Once you've saved, the original device name will be restored.
