Nest 3rd Gen will not recognise WiFi

Riggers1

Hi there,

Our (3rd Gen) thermostat is less than a year old. Return from holiday and says “Wifi not connected”. Gone through all the processes, as suggested by Google Nest online - restarted the router, checked the battery level (3.918), typed in our WiFi connection and passwords manually — and yes — using the correct upper/lowercase/numbers as required, but still our network is not recognised. Everything was fine before going away — we could change settings via my iPhone (if we wished) but that continues to read as: ‘offline’.

Don’t have a clue what to do now. If someone suggests “Try pulling your hair out!” I’d say I’m pretty close to doing that now!!!!! Stumped.

Hi Riggers1,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen is not recognizing your Wi-Fi network; I completely understand how frustrating this situation can be. No worries; I'm more than happy to help.

I appreciate the time and effort you have already taken to complete the troubleshooting steps described in the post. To address the issue, could you please help me by answering some questions?

  • What's the software version of your thermostat?
  • Can the thermostat find or detect other networks?
  • Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network?
  • Can you see an error message on your thermostat?
  • How far is the thermostat from your Wi-Fi network?
  • Have you tried to connect your thermostat with a mobile hotspot?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Daniel
