Nest Hub activation fails on Google Assistant set up with 83902 kGSKErrorDomain

I purchased a Nest Hub in Norway and I am setting it up in my home in Norway. When I am setting up my Nest Hub by activating it through the Google Home app, I get held up every time by on the Google Assistant set up with the following error message:

“The operation couldn't be completed. (kGSKErrorDomainerror -83902.)”

I have read through the several similar posts on this subject and attempted all the suggested fixes. My IPhone’s language and my Google account language are set to English. I have reset the hub multiple times. I have restarted my phone. I’m not sure what to do at this point, and I am frustrated because I have already spent way too much time trying to fix something that should just work.

Hi ThomasRooke,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Hub fails in the activation on the Google Assistant and you got the "kGSKErrorDomainerror -83902" error message.

I also appreciate all the workarounds already performed. To continue investigating the inconvenience, I’d like to ask the following:

  • What is the generation of your Nest Hub?
  • Where did you purchase the device?
  • Have you attempted to set up the Google Nest device using a different phone or tablet?

In the meantime, please double-check the following steps:

  • Make sure the region is in the US on your mobile device.
  • Ensure the Google Assistant language is in EN_US or English US (on the phone). For reference, you can see this article: Change the language of Google Assistant.

After checking the languages on the Google Assistant, try performing a factory reset one more time on the Nest Hub. Then, close the Google Home app and reopen it again, and continue with the setup of the Nest Hub through the Google Home app. For instructions, you can refer to this article: Set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Thank you for these tips, Jennifer. The difference maker appears to be changing the region on my phone from Norway to the US. The Google Hub works now.
