Nest app not showing Nest thermostat after setting up in Google Home

I'm able to control the thermostat through Google Home, but it doesn't show up in Nest.

Have restarted the thermostat and phone and uninstalled and reinstalled the Nest app.

It's still there in Google Home but not in Nest app. When I try to "add a device" it wants to go through Google Home again.

The Nest Thermostat gets installed in the Google Home app and cannot be accessed in the Google Nest app.

The Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E get installed in the Google Nest app but then should automatically appear in the Google Home app if you are logging into both apps with the same Google Account and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure".

This is not entirely clear in Google Nest's help topic (and Google Nest sometimes seems to use other names for these thermostats):
