No Disney+ option to Google home app

Hello, I just got a GCWGT from Greece (it's still in Greece, and it will remain in Greece forever) and I went ahead to link my streaming subscriptions to Google home. Netflix appeared on my phone (not in father's), but Disney+ and/or Amazon prime video don't appear. My Gmail account was created in Greece and has current play store location in the Netherlands. The GCWGT was bought in Greece. I tried other devices too, and I wasn't able to find the Disney+ option. Is it supported in Greece? Finally, I read sth about Amazon Prime video being removed from Google Home, is this indeed the case?

Thank you for your answer

Hi there,

Well, I tried it, and I was able to link Disney+ to my home (Amazon Prime video doesn't appear btw, so my speculation on the original post is probably true).

What I did is:

1) Installed a VPN app

2) Removed all Google accounts from my device

3) Connected to a US server location (New York in my case), opened Play store, and proceeded to create a new Google account (added random data)

4) Added new Google account to my Google home (via another already existing member) as a new family person

5) Connected to Google home using the new account, and accepted the invitation

6) I saw an option to link Disney+ (also Hulu, and Paramount+ in case you have, I haven't), and I linked it!

(Optional) The new Google account is part of your house, etc, so I would suggest you to add 2FA

Note: VPN is used only for the creation of an US-based account. I personally disconnected from the VPN after I linked D+

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. The Chromecast with Google TV isn't officially supported in Greece so it's not guaranteed that the device and its features may work.

You may try to change the country for the Google Play Store as this is where the apps are installed from, or change the location or language set to your Google Account, Google Home app, and mobile device to English (US), however this workaround may or may not work. I'd also suggest that you contact the Google Play or reach out to the app developer for additional help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hello Docmenios,

No problem at all. Could you please try the steps and let me know how it goes?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hello Jennifer,

I wasn't able to change the country to the US to any of my existing mails (language and apps are already set in English US btw), so I will try to create a US-based google account using VPN, add it to "my home", and see if it will work. I will write here again once I have anything new.

Thanks

Glad to hear that you're able to link the Disney+ app and thanks for sharing your resolution in the Community! In the meantime, do you still have other questions and concerns?

Thanks,

Hello Jennifer,

Thanks for asking. No, I don't have anything else I may want to ask. I went ahead and marked my solution as the "accepted solution" yesterday btw.

Gregory
