Hello.
I recently replaced a Pixel 8 with a Pixel 9. It was a trade in, so the Pixel 8 was factory reset and I have no access to it. After setting up the Pixel 9, all Google Home Personal Routines with a location based starter stopped working.
All these Personal Routines have a message "This routine can only be edited on Pixel 8. To edit this routine on this phone, update the routine to use this phone's location". Every time I touch the "Use this phone" link, I get "An Expected error occurred [NoLocationSharingPhone]. Please try again later.". I get the same error if I try to add a new Personal Routine with a location based starter.
Google support told me to:
Nothing really worked. Not only Google support doesn't have any other suggestion, but they also blamed me for not logging out of of the Google Home app in the Pixel 8 before the factory reset. That to me is questionable, but is not really the scope here.
I'm looking for solutions or suggestions. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi, it's the same for me. Replaced a Pixel 8 with a Pixel 9 Pro XL, followed the whole procedure of removing my account before factory resetting and selling my old phone. Tried the same things that the Google support told you but to no avail. Now the Pixel 8 is sold and I'm stuck with the [NoLocationSharingPhone] error.

I found a solution that worked for me.
- set location permission for Google app to "Allow all the time" + precise location
- enable Hey Google and Voice match
- Retrain Voice Match Model
After that I was able to switch the phone in the Home app via "Use this phone"
Hope that works for others as well.

It worked for me as well. Thank you! In my case I had the Google app already with Allow all the time & Use precise location, so I didn't touch that. But retraining the voice did the trick. I can't think of a connection between location based personal routines/link to old phone/voice recognition&training, but I'll leave it at that. Thanks again.
