Presence sensing section not showing

For the life of me I cannot figure out the "special code" to get presence sensing to show up in my Home App.

I have read the online tutorials, recommendations, and many threads about this but still cannot get it to show up.  I have tried completely deleting my home and setting up a new one, deleting the app on all devices and reinstalling, set up a completely different home on a different android phone under a different google account.  None of it works.  In all instances I have set location permissions to "all the time" and allowed for precise location for the Home app.  I do NOT have any options for an "Away" or "Home" routine, and if I try to setup a routine with that name it gives me an error saying I need to come up with a unique routine name.  The closest I have to the "Away" or "Home" routines are "I'm Home" and "Leaving Home."  I have allowed both of these and run them to try and trigger the presence sensing to no avail.  I have setup my own household routines named "Home1" and "Away1" to try and get presence sensing to show up.  Nothing works.

I have also tried changing the language for voice assistant in the app and phone and then setting back to English.  No difference.

This is on a Pixel 7 fully up to date, also tried on a pixel 4.  I have a home hub, nest thermostat, and nest doorbell.

Hi pts116,

Thanks for reaching out and for the details you’ve shared. Could you confirm by checking the steps below if that is how you are doing it?

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. In the "Home features" section, tap Presence sensing.
  4. Tap the switch next to Allow this home to use phone locations to turn it on or off.

Check out the article below for more information about it.

Hello there,

Thanks for looking into this, Juni.

@pts116, in addition to what was shared above, please check that the Google Home app's permission for the location is enabled. You can check this setting in your phone's settings. Let us know if that helps.

Best regards,

Mark
