Removing DISH devices

Leysa_anne

I linked my DISH satellite box and Joey's a long time ago. I no longer have one of the Joey's and was have wanted to remove it from my listed devices in the Google home app for a very very long time. Upon looking into it, I found that Google home no longer supports DISH anyways and realized I had not seen any of the other devices show they were "on" for quite some time.

There is no simple remove device button for anything. For other devices that I no longer own, I eventually found them in their separate linked app and remove them there, rather than unlinking the whole app and having to reads devices that still worked. But the DISH devices were not set up in an app. When I navigate through settings, it only says unlink service, then goes to the apps that work with google, of which these Joey's and satellite box are not part of.

How do I remove these unusable devices from my list of devices in Google home?

Hi Leysa_anne,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you need to remove some third-party devices from the Google Home app. I'm happy to help you with this. Please follow the next steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings and then Works with Google Home.
  3. Under Linked services, tap the devices you want to disconnect, then select Unlink account..
  4. Tap Unlink to confirm your choice.

I hopes this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Manuel

As I said in my post, Dish does not come up on the linked services options because it does not have an app. I have followed these directions multiple times as well as clicked "unlink service" from each devices' settings menu, but all it does is take me to the list of linked services where DISH DOES NOT EXIST!!

I'm sorry, I'm quite frustrated that there is not another way to remove devices within the Home app.

Hi Leysa_anne,

Thanks for your reply. This helps us understand that you've already tried the correct steps. Could you please send me a screenshot showing how "Dish" appears on the list in your Google Home app?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

searching for dish, satellite, or joey under services just gives this blank search page.

Hi Leysa_anne,

Thanks for sending the screenshots. I recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps to fix the situation:

Clear cache:

  1. Go to your phone's device Settings > Apps > Home > Storage and cache.
  2. Tap "Clear cache" and "Clear storage."
  3. Then, check if the third-party device was removed.

If the inconvenience persists, please uninstall the Google Home app:

  1. Open your phone's device settings.
  2. Tap "Apps."
  3. Find "Google Home" and tap it.
  4. Tap "Uninstall" > "OK."
  5. Once uninstalled please reinstall the Google Home app and check if all is okay.

I hope this helps!

Regards,

Manuel
