Reset music cache

I am having trouble playing any original studio versions of music. Even if I ask "play original," "play studio version" with song title and artist it only plays live versions or mixes.  I have gone to my phone settings and cleared every cach that has Google, chrome, anything that uses those apps. I have uninstalled, restarted, and even unplugged the Google speaker for a hard restart. I searched Google and it tells me to go to settings-storage & cache, there is nothing like that in the settings on my app. Im lost. These songs are not anything I have purposely played on ANY of my devices.

Youtube music is the app I use and I have gone in and "disliked" every song it has played and it still plays only live and remixed versions.  I have used this speaker for almost 2 years on the same login and this has only started happening in the last few months.  I'm about to throw this out and use Alexa.

Do I have to create a new Google account and start over completely to fix this issue?

Hi Invictusanimus,

Thank you for posting in the community. I see you’re having trouble playing the original studio versions of songs on your Nest speaker via the YouTube app, which instead plays live versions or mixes. I understand how frustrating this must be, and I appreciate all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken. Help’s here.

To assist you better, please answer the following questions:

  • What type of Nest speaker do you have? (Here is a helpful article to identify the model of Nest speaker).
  • Where are you located?
  • Is the same Google account linked to both the Nest speaker and the YouTube app?
  • What was the voice command you used to play the desired audio content?
  • Are you playing a specific album or just a random song listed on your YouTube account?
  • Is the same behavior occurring with other music providers (e.g., Spotify, Google Play Music, Amazon Music)?
  • Do you have an active subscription to the YouTube app?

Please keep me posted on your findings.

Regards,

Byron
