Script for texting

I’m new to Google Home. But I’ve been able to write a scripted automation to turn on a plug and send a notification to my Google Home app.  What additional is required to send a text message to my phone instead?  If that’s not possible,  what about an email?   Can someone point me to documents that deal with this?   Thanks.

Currently, we can only receive these notifications via the Google Home App.
