Shutters handling with Google Home App

Rigel_k
Community Member

I don't really understand why I cannot handle (fully open, partial open/close, fully close) my shutters from Home App, while I cano do this easily via Nest Hub.
In Home App, if I tap on the shutter device, I just get to its settings (same thing with prolonged tap).
On Nest Hub, tapping on the device leads me to the opening/closing commands.

Why this?

Hi Rigel_k.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: has the feature worked before in your Google Home app? If so, Were there any recent changes made before the issue started? What steps have you tried so far?

You can force close and reopen your Google Home app to refresh. If this did not work try to reboot your phone and see if it will make a difference.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni

thanks for your interest.

Sadly I've never been able to control my shutters via Home App, despite of them being the most widespread brand in EU (BTicino/Legrand in partnership with Netatmo).

As I said, I can easily control them with my Nest Hub and via voice command of Google Assistant, thus i really don't get how comes they cannot be controlled with Home App.

Nor Uninstall/Reinstall Home App nor BTicino account unlink/link didn't make any difference.

Please also consider that all other BTicino products (lights, smart plugs, etc..) work flawlessly in Home App, the issues shows up just with the shutters.

Hi Rigel_k,

Thanks for the details you provided. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. You can try to use another mobile phone to further isolate the issue. If that did not work try to unlink the shutter then create a new home and link the shutters there. Observe if this will give you more control options.

Looking forward to your response,

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni, did everything as you asked.

Useless effort.

I have guests invited to my "home" using other devices (both Android as iOS) and the issue is the very same.

Also the unlinking+new home+relinking was useless.

Now can we please focus on making Home App work? As the other users have clarified, this is a (incomprehensible) lack of the Home App, not an issue.

It's pretty unfair for Google to brand these devices as "works with Google" while they actually don't (unless you purchase additional expensive devices).

Hi folks,

Thanks for the response. At this point, we already need a couple of details. Please fill up the information below.

  1. Make and model of the mobile phone using Google Home app.
  2. Google Home app version.
  3. Cast firmware version of Nest display.
  4. Screenshot showing shutters function on Nest display and shutters in the Google Home app not showing this function.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi JFCASANOVA,

Thanks for the screenshot, could you also send an image showing the Nest display where the function is showing? Also, could you get us the exact Google Home app version and the firmware version of the Nest Hub?

Thanks,

Juni.

I'm sorry but one more time : it is not a issue that I have. It's the same with all devices, all app versions and all users.

Lucky you!

I didn't even get a reply, I was just ignored.

All I got so far is a silly automated reply with a template inviting me to send a feedback via home App since "Who knows, maybe one day we'll implement this function".

And we've been waiting for this implementation (which already exists on Nest Hub) for years... Ridiculous.

Hi. It's not a issue, it's a lack. With all phones, tablets and account, even in the last preview of the app. Blinds can be controlled, shutters (witch needed exactly the same interface) cannot.

Thanks for posting. Are you experiencing the same concern? If so, what is the make of your shutters? Have you tried troubleshooting steps provided here?

Looking forward to your response.

Yes, same concern but as i said, it's not an issue, it's just not implemented in the app.
