Sony KD85X80CK wont take my user/password for the Nest App

thurstonjc
Community Member

I have the Sony 85" KD85X80CK and have downloaded the Nest App.  It has my user email and password already (smart lock for passwords), but will not accept the credentials.  It brings up "Please Try Again You entered and incorrect email address or password."

I've cleared them out, and manually added them.  Same issue.  I've reset my password, had to log back into the TV itself with the new password, and still get this same message.

Please help.  I'd love to see my Nest cameras from this TV.

Hi thurstonjc,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few things: Is your Nest account migrated to Google? Are you able to log in to your phone’s Nest app? Which Nest Camera do you own?

You can check this helpful link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni

Yes, I’m able to log in via the app.  We have the  doorbell cam, and an interior and outdoor Nest camera as well.

Hi thurstonjc,

Thanks for the details you provided. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. For us to further isolate, could you try to download the Nest app to another phone and use your migrated Nest credentials and observe if you will get the same message?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni

To be clear, the issue is not appearing on a phone.  The login issue is on a Sony 85" TV.  I can login on my phone just fine.

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming.  When you log in to your phone do you have to manually put in the username and password or your phone remembers it?  There is a possibility that the credentials that you are putting to your TV is incorrect that's why we are trying to further isolate the issue by using another device.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni

From my phone, the credentials are saved, however, I can clear the credentials out and add them back in.  No issue with login either way via my phone.

Hello thurstonjc,

Thanks for the response. Could you try to uninstall and reinstall the app on your TV then observe if this will make a difference?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni

I'm having same issue with Sony 75X85 model. Tried everything same as you . No luck logging in.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone!  Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Hi folks,

Thanks for trying that troubleshooting. Based on your responses it appears that the issue is isolated to Sony TV's have you tried contacting Sony support about it?

Juni

Does Sony make that app?  No, Google does.

Hi there,

Thanks for the response. For us to further isolate the issue, could you try to log into https://goo.gle/2WSvFX3 using a web browser. Once done and you successfully logged in, try to log in again on your TV’s Nest app. Also, make sure that you are using the proper capitalization when logging in to the Nest app on your TV.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Juni

Yes, I can log into the link just fine

In fact, if you know that Sony TV, I have to log into it as it’s a Google TV.  I can do that just fine as well.  The app is the issue.

Hey thurstonjc,

We understand. To make sure, have you migrated your Nest Account? If so, logging in your Nest App to any Smart or Android TV will not work anymore.

Thanks,

Alex

How do I verify?  If this is the case, how ridiculous.  Why should it matter as Nest is owned by Google, so my Google account should work.

Lastly, if so, what is the workaround?  Otherwise, I'm going to return this non-functioning TV to Costco.  I bought this TV for this reason.  There are a million other TV options from Samsung and LG; I chose this Sony for Google and Nest integration

Hello there,

You can verify you’ve migrated in the Nest app:

  1. If you’re asked to sign in, select Sign in with Nest > enter the email and password associated with your Nest Account.
    • If you’re able to sign in with your Nest Account, then your account hasn’t been migrated.
  2. If you’re unable to sign in with your Nest Account, tap Sign in with Google.
    • If you can sign in with your Google Account, then your account has been migrated.
  3. You can check this link for additional information.

Currently, the best thing that you can do to stream your camera feed on a big screen is to use the web versions of the Google Home app. To learn more visit this support article.

Best,

Alex
